Face-to-Face Events1. BOOKINGS Individual bookings must be made online via the MIA Portal. Already registered users are required to log in using their existing account credentials (email address). For group bookings, please contact MIA via email at cpeevents@miamalta.org. Bookings will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. 2. PARTICIPATION FEES The Institute has different participation fees for its events:
All events organised by the Institute are VAT exempt. 3. PAYMENT Payment must be settled in advance of the event. Online bookings must be accompanied by online payment either via Paypal, Visa or Mastercard. The booking and invoice will be automatically cancelled if payment is not activated within 15 minutes of clicking the Pay online button. 4. BILLING DETAILS Invoices and receipts can only be issued on behalf of the participant. 5. CONFIRMATION A confirmation email will be sent to the participant upon completion of booking and payment. Invoices can be downloaded from the registered user MIA portal. 6. CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY A participant who is unable to attend a booked and paid event can: (a) cancel the booking as per below (b) transfer the funds to an upcoming event within the same year or (c) name a substitute participant to attend instead of him/her. Cancellations submitted by not later than 2 days before the start time of the event will be fully refunded. The finance team will issue the refund accordingly. It is not possible to initiate the cancellation after this stipulated period. For events (a) carrying with them any discounts or offers or (b) where group bookings are allowed: Cancellations are not refundable. Participants who are unable to attend due to health reasons are requested to inform the Institute in writing by not later than 8:00AM of the event’s date. Such participants are entitled to a full refund at the MIA's discretion. Participants who do not show up for the event(s) are not entitled to any refund. Refunds are processed internally. Refunds will be made in the same method of payment used at the time of booking. An email will be sent to the participant once the relevant refund is issued. 7. TRANSFER THE AMOUNT PAID TO ANOTHER EVENT A participant who is unable to attend an event can transfer the paid amount to an upcoming course within the same year. In this regard, the participant is requested to send an email by not later than 2 days before the start time of the event which cannot be attended to cpeevents@miamalta.org noting the following information:

A participant who is unable to attend an event can name a person of a substitute participant to instead of him/her. In this regard, the participant is requested to send an email by not later than 2 days before the start time of the event which cannot be attended to cpeevents@miamalta.org noting the information provided in clause 7 including also the Name, Surname, ID card number and Email address of the Substitute Participant. Participants can register themselves on the waiting list. When new seating space is made available, the system will automatically book the first registered person on the waiting list. An email alert is sent to the participant to process payment or cancel the booking. The payment timeframe stipulated in section 3 still applies. 10. SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTSWhen booking for events where lunch or dinner is served, participants are to advise of any dietary or special requirements by email on marketing@miamalta.org at the time of booking and by not later than 7 days before the event. The catering establishment will be notified accordingly. However, the Institute cannot guarantee the accommodation of such requests, nor guarantee or accept liability for the health of the participant. 11. PROGRAMME CHANGESIt may be necessary for reasons beyond the Institute's control to change the content and timing of the programme, the speakers, date or venue at any time prior to the event date without notice. 12. CPE HOURS & PROOF OF ATTENDANCEFor a participant to be eligible for CPE hours, he/she must attend: A minimum of 75% of the session where the duration of the session is up to 1 hour; and A minimum of 50% of the session where the duration of the session is longer than an hour. Pro-rata hours will apply when the participant fails to attend the full session. In such circumstance, the CPE hours will be calculated in quarter-hour increments (rounded to the nearest quarter of an hour). Full hours will apply when the participant attends the full session or leaves the session up to a quarter of an hour before the scheduled end time. A written declaration in the form of an email will be issued after each session. This is to be kept for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) records purposes. In this regard, it is important to always ensure that your email address is up to date. 13. EVENT’S MATERIALThe Event’s presentation will be sent via email after the event to participants who have booked and paid for the event. Any presentation and related material provided to the participant is intended for general information only and should not be used in relation to any specific application/matter without independent examination and verification of its applicability and suitability by professionally qualified personnel. Those making use thereof or relying thereon assume all risks and liability arising from such use or reliance. The MIA shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage sustained by any person and/or entity relying on the content of this presentation. 14. COPYRIGHTThe content of all material covered in face-to-face courses is the intellectual property of MIA. It may be used exclusively by the registered participant to whom they were made available. In particular, publication even if only in part, reproduction, distribution and editing are prohibited as is the recording of an event in audio or video. Legal proceedings may be initiated in the event of any misuse. The participant agrees to respect copyright and only use the content for his/her own use. The participant also agrees to defend, indemnify and hold the MIA, its officers and employees harmless from all claims, damages and losses incurred by the MIA due to a breach of this obligation. 15. PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING DURING THE EVENTThe Malta Institute of Accountants might take photos during the event(s). These images will be used by the Institute to share news about the event in newsletters, the Annual Report, The Accountant journal, and printed publicity. Photos shall also be published on MIA’s social media. Such images may be used to publicise future events of the same nature and for reporting purposes. If you are a participant and would prefer not to be photographed, or in the future you decide that you would like the Institute to delete your images, you may advise the Institute’s team by sending an email on info@miamalta.org at any time. 16. One day before the session, a link will be sent via email to be able to join the CPE Webinar. It is important that:
Participation in a CPE Webinar requires the following: • Uninterrupted high-speed internet access; • Adequate bandwidth; • PC/laptop/phone/tablet fully charged or connected to a power supply; • The webinar’s software application; • Headphones / Speakers; and • Email with the link to join the CPE Webinar. 3. REGISTRATION AND STARTING TIME OF THE CPE WEBINARParticipants would be able join the CPE webinar 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Early registration is highly recommended as participants must check and ensure that the requirements listed above are properly functioning. It is advisable to choose a quiet spot, mute your phone and close any applications running in the background of the device being used. Unless for any reason beyond the MIA’s control, CPE webinars will start on time. In this regard, participants are requested to respect punctuality and register as early as possible. 4. ASKING QUESTIONS DURING WEBINARDuring the session, questions can be raised via the Chat function. There will also be a Q&A session at the end. 5. TECHNICAL PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED BY PARTICIPANTS DURING A CPE WEBINARSuch problems are to be IMMEDIATELY reported to the MIA via email on cpeevents@miamalta.org. Participants who fail to report any technical problems experienced during a CPE Webinar shall not be entitled for a refund. 6. TECHNICAL PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED BY MIAThe MIA will be taking all the precautionary measures to ensure the session runs smoothly; however this does not exclude the fact that technical difficulties may still arise. In such cases, the MIA would do its utmost to get in touch with the participants and solve the issue as soon as possible. Where the issue is beyond our control, such as in the case of a power cut, the Institute will do its best to reach the participants as soon as possible. In such case, the MIA may consider rescheduling the session for another time. 7. EVENT’S MATERIALThe Event’s presentation will be made available for download. A written declaration confirming the number of attended hours will be issued in the form of an email up to one week after the session. This is to be kept for CPE records purposes. 13. Group Bookings1. Discount fees can only be availed off in case of bookings of 3 participants or more at one time for the same CPE. Discount as follows:

Bookings received after this deadline may only be accepted at the MIA's discretion. Information provided should include the following the Company Name, Participant Name and Surname, ID card number, designation, mobile number, email address and the respective ticket category (Member, Retired Member, Student and Non-Member).5. It is the responsibility of the person sending the request to provide accurate information about the participants. 6. Upon receipt of email, the MIA will proceed with the booking, raise the relevant invoices, and confirm the booking via email.7. Payment should be made immediately via a bank transfer following the booking confirmation and prior to the event’s date. Proof of payment is to be sent via email on cpeevents@miamalta.org. 8. Invoices and receipts can only be issued on behalf of the participant. Documents can be viewed through the participant’s profile.9. Applications will be processed at the earliest time possible. However, please contact the MIA on cpeevents@miamalta.org if confirmation of booking is not received after 5 working days. 10. Where a participant is unable to attend, the booking can be transferred to another participant. Such transfer is free of charge. However, should the fee of the substitute participant be higher than that of the original participant, the difference will be due.11. Requests for substitution of participants are to be made in writing. Changes will become effective once the confirmation by the MIA is received. 12. Refunds for cancellations and no shows will not be entertained.13. Participants registering for the event are agreeing that the MIA will collect their information, which will be processed as per the MIA's Privacy Notice. 14. Unlimited CPE BundleThe Unlimited CPE Bundle Scheme allows users to buy an unlimited bundle of hours of structured CPE at a discounted hourly rate. There are 4 Unlimited CPE Bundles on offer: Members, Retired Members, Non-Members and Students. Full payment is to be made upon purchase. The invoice and receipt can only be issued on behalf of the participant. Documents can be viewed through the participant’s profile. The Unlimited CPE Bundle Scheme applies only for MIA organised online CPE events taking place throughout the calendar year. Hours purchased through this scheme cannot be used to attend online conferences, physical conferences and events, events which are already discounted and events which are held in conjunction with third parties. CPE hours purchased through the Unlimited CPE Bundle Scheme cannot be transferred from one person to another. Participants will receive the attendance certificate of hours according to their attendance and not according to the number of bookings applied for. Participants will only receive the presentation used during the CPE if they have actually attended the CPE. Participants who purchase the offer as MIA Members and students must settle their membership subscription fee within the stipulated deadline in order to benefit from this scheme.
