BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Malta Tax and Customs Administration (MTCA) has published the Final Settlement System (FSS) Circular, the Tax Rates for Individuals applicable for 2026 and the related guidelines.
This session will provide members and non-members with the opportunity to gain clarity directly from MTCA representatives, better understand the implications of the new personal tax rates and raise any questions arising from these changes.

Speakers' Profiles

Mr Lydon J. Farrugia Vella, an accountant by profession, serves as Director at the Malta Tax and Customs Administration, where he leads tax operations and compliance. With over sixteen years of experience, he bridges tax rules with practical implementation, overseeing the operational rollout of new tax laws and digital reforms to ensure Malta’s tax system remains efficient and aligned with EU standards.
Mr Noel Agius is a Tax Practitioner and Assistant Director within the Tax Operations Directorate of the Malta Tax and Customs Administration. In his current role, he leads and contributes to various projects and processes related to taxpayer registrations, tax returns and data filings, and assessments. Noel also oversees the management of Third-Party Data information, including the operational compliance of the Sale of Agricultural Produce Rules.
