BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Mental health has nowadays become a very familiar term, encountered regularly in our conversations.  But what is mental health and why does it matter?
The aim of this session is to increase mental health awareness, considering elements that have an impact on mental health.  The session will encourage participants to reflect upon their experience both from a personal and a work perspective, identifying any steps that can be taken to strengthen and promote mental health.

Specific topics to be covered during the session

  • Defining mental health and its relevance in one’s personal and working life.
  • Understanding elements that impact mental health positively, while identifying and addressing issues that undermine it.
  • The relationship between work environment and mental health.
  • Understand the role of managers and team leaders in promoting mental health and dealing with team members encountering mental health issues.
  • A focus on Anxiety, which is the official theme for 2023 Mental Health Awareness month.

Why is the session of relevance to our members?

Mental health has a huge impact on our personal life. At work, regardless of one’s job role and responsibility, mental health has an impact on job satisfaction and performance. The session will be of benefit to participants who are interested in mental health awareness and it will be an opportunity to pause and reflect on ways to strengthen this.  The session will also be of interest to managers and leaders, by becoming more aware of ways to strengthen mental health at work and how to deal with members of their team facing mental health issues.
