Background Information

This is an event organized by the MIA Young Members Group. The idea behind this CPE event is to introduce the latest digital tools which members of the Institute may use in order to facilitate and improve their procedures , automate repetitive work and ultimately allow for more value adding processes.
Such tools as well as the challenges and benefits of going digital, will be presented by personnel working in the field of digitalization as well as personnel who have experienced a shift to a more digital system.

Objectives of the session

  • Better awareness of the tools out there available to automate repetitive work currently performed by professional accountants
  • The benefits upon the digital shift within Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC)
  • The latest initiatives in Malta that are aiding this digital shift
  • The challenges a practitioner may encounter and that shall be considered before going fully digital.

TOPICS ON THE AGENDA

  • Presentation by Mr Brian Ferris, Managing Partner at Scope with focus on the various accounting tools on the market and the benefits as well as challenges that his clients tend to face;
  • Presentation by Mr Andrew Perrett, Cloud accounting Associate Partner at TC Group, on how the HMRC has implemented the change to a more digital system;
A panel Discussion moderated by the MIA Young Members Group Chair, Mr Jean Paul Debono, Managing Partner at Debono & Associates, with focus on the personal experience of the panel members present, made up of:
  • Mr Mark Wirth, Director at Mint Finance, Member of the MIA Young Members Group and Small and Medium Sized Practices (SMP) Advisory Group
  • Mr Matthew Scerri, Associate Director, Digital Solutions at KPMG Malta
