On 19 May 2022, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1518 (2003) removed three entries from its Sanctions List of individuals and entities.

  • South Sudan Regime

Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/748 of 16 May 2022 implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/735 concerning restrictive measures in respect of the situation in South Sudan

The Council of the European Union on 16 May 2022 concluded that restrictive measures against one person listed in Annex II to Regulation (EU) 2015/735 should be maintained and that the entry for that person should be updated and renumbered.

Council Implementing Decision (CFSP) 2022/755 of 16 May 2022 implementing Decision (CFSP) 2015/740 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in South Sudan

The Council of the European Union on 16 May 2022 concluded that restrictive measures against one person listed in Annex II to Decision (CFSP) 2015/740 should be maintained and that the entry for that person should be updated and renumbered.

Corrigendum to Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/581 of 8 April 2022 implementing Regulation (EU) No 269/2014 concerning restrictive measures in respect of actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine (Official Journal of the European Union L 110 of 8 April 2022)

Entry 916 in the table headed ‘Persons’ in the Annex on page 13 has been amended.

Entry 916 in the table headed ‘Persons’ in the Annex on page 66 has been amended.

Please be reminded that all EU/UN sanctions are directly applicable under Maltese law under the National Interest (Enabling Powers) Act, cap 365 of the Laws of Malta as linked here.

Should any of your clients be a person or entity who is listed under UN/EU or national sanctions or who is directly or indirectly owned or controlled by a listed person or entity, the freezing measures mentioned under article 17 of the Act apply.

The Sanctions Monitoring Board is to be informed immediately of the actions that have been taken in relation to the assets of such listed persons.

The Sanctions Monitoring Board may be contacted on sanctions.mfea@gov.mt on any issue relating to sanctions.
