BackgrounD information

The session will cover fundamentals that will allow attendees to understand the global emerging interest in startups and their impact on markets and economies. Particularly the sessions will focus on the CFO perspective in relation to the startups, but will also cover how founders go about the steps to developing a startup and the role of investors in helping startups scale up. A technical analysis of the major key performance indicators of startups will be discussed and the key elements that allow startups to access a variety of sources of finance. Finally, the session will provide an overview of the value proposition Malta has to offer as it competes with the international market to attract the best startup talent.

These techniques are not thought during the course of our studies, though the concept of Start-ups and Venture Capital is becoming more relevant, both for the practitioner who owns his/her practice or even to advise other owners.

    Speaker's Profile

    Adrian Galea has spent the last 7 years involved with start-ups at the international level, particularly supporting investors build, manage and exit portfolios of more than 100 early stage start-ups across Europe and the US. He is currently engaged as finance manager of BITKRAFT Ventures, a U.S. based esports, gaming and interactive media focussed Venture Capital firm with $500M assets under management. He was previously head of finance for Go Beyond Investments, a Swiss business angel platform for more than 800 European based business angels that invested more than €25 million in start-ups. He also led a Series A investment round for this start-up, raising more than 4.5M€ from business angels and family offices. In his early career, Adrian developed his skills at Camilleri Preziosi, a local corporate law firm, he is an MIA member and holds an accountancy ACCA qualification.
