Professional standards are high both in the field of public practice and within commerce and industry.

The major International accounting firms are represented in Malta. International secondments are considered as a useful phase in an accountant's development and are encouraged. International Accounting Standards and International Auditing Guidelines issued by IASC and IFAC are followed. The Institute's code of ethics is based on the IFAC model.

The strength of the profession is evident not only in terms of its size, but also the variety of services offered:

Audit and Investigations

Company Secretarial Work

These services are offered to a vast variety of clients hailing from different countries. Business correspondence is conducted in English. Italian is widely spoken.

These standards and skills are also prevalent within industry and commerce. Many accountants in industry and commerce would in fact have commenced their careers with a practitioner in public practice.
